[] Der bisherige Pfarrgehülfe war weitentfernt, sich alle die Eigenschaften zuz…utrauen, welche zur würdigen Ausfüllung eines so ehrenvollen, aber auch nur mit schwerer Verantwortlichkeit zu übernehmenden Postens unerläßlich sein mußten [] Bis zu den Universitätsjahren leitete der gewählte Erzieher den Herzog ohne Zuziehung eines Oberhofmeisters; begleitete sodann mit diesem unter den freundschaftlichsten Verhältnissen den jungen Fürsten nach Jena und Heidelberg; früher noch auf mehreren Reisen, nach der Schweiz und dem oberen Italien, nach den Niederlanden, Holland und durch Frankreich pp so daß sich allenthalben Gelegenheit zu vielseitiger Bildung für den Zögling eben sowohl, als für den Erzieher fand; denn das ,docendo discimus', womit er begonnen, sollte immerfort in Kraft bleiben []" - Am Schluss berichtet er von der von ihm besorgten Gesamtausgabe seines verstorbenen Freundes Ernst Wagner, die 12bändig von 1827 bis 1828 erschien. - Sehr selten.
