Condition: Gut. (Nazareth-Konferenz). 200 Seiten; Tab.; graph. Darst.; 24 cm; kart. Gutes Exemplar; Einband berieben. - Englisch. . An important task consists in the offering of platforms for discussions. During October 25th to 26th 1995 the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized an event at Notre Dame, Jerusalem on the theme: "The Psychology of Peace and Conflict - The Israeli Palestinian Experience". Joint organizers of this seminar were the Harry S Truman Research Institute For The Advancement of Peace at the Hebrew University and the Palestine Consultancy Group (PCG). The event's goal was to discuss the effect of the peace process on the Israeli and Palestinian societies. The Palestinian and Israeli referees alternately introduced their research topics. In fact they were dealing with the discussion of the psychological aspects as a result of the changed political situation. The topics were intentionally related to the very daily life, for example education, literature and children's literature, theater and poetry, mass media, movies, the economical relations and the development of political attitudes. The participants of this conference were primarily representatives of Israeli and Palestinian universities. The importance of this dialogue was continually pointed out by the participants. I want to thank the head of the Truman Institute, Prof. Moshe Maoz and Dr. Sari Nusseibeh, chairperson of the Palestine Consultancy Group. Without their engagement and that of their colleagues the event would not have been possible. In this publication the reader will find a summary of the lectures, which have been read during the conference. I hope that they will contribute to a better understanding of the other.
