Allo stesso contesto, tuttavia, appartengono anche molti esempi più convincenti, che rivelano sensibilità diverse, grazie alle quali il lavoro nel campo del giardino storico è avvenuto all'insegna della continuità, sviluppando interesse sia verso la conoscenza, sia verso un esercizio creativo di interpretazione critica della storia. A partire dai contenuti delle Giornate internazionali di studio sul paesaggio 2019 e di altri cantieri di ricerca e sperimentazione aperti dalla Fondazione nel periodo recente, si sono individuate alcune direzioni di approfondimento, sviluppate da diciotto autori in sedici contributi che ricostruiscono, per frammenti, una geografia complessa di relazioni, scambi e influenze reciproche molto fertili, che continuano ad alimentare anche la cultura contemporanea del giardino e del paesaggio e a ispirare interventi capaci di non congelare le forme del passato, ma di interrogarsi sulla continuità dei luoghi e dei contesti di appartenenza, e sulla presenza di coloro che li abitano e si prendono cura del loro futuro.
