Karl) - swissbib mit nur 1 Standort (ZHB Luzern) - Ev. Exemplar aus der Restauflage von (Oktav-) Druckbogen zu 4 Nutzen, hier unaufgeschnitten in Heftform zusammengefaltet. Die vorliegende Form ist drucktechnisch und hinsichtlich der Mettage insofern interessant, als die Anordnung der Nutzen, d.h. das Ausschiessen auf dem Oktavbogen und die 4 Falze ersichtlich sind, also die reine Druckversion vor dem Ausrüsten mit Zuschneiden, Zusammentragen, Heften und ev. Einbinden - Erbaulich-aszetische Ansprache gehalten am Sonntag 14. September 1873 zum Jesus-Ausspruch "Ego, si exaltatus fuero a terra, omnia traham ad me ipsum - Ich, wenn Ich von der Erde werde erhöht sein, werde Alles an mich ziehen" (Joh. XII, 32) -- Karl II. Motschi (1827-1900), Profess in Mariastein 1851, Priester 1852, zum Abt gewählt am 13. März 1873. "Die Wahl des neuen Abtes fiel in eine sehr aufgeregte Zeit. Solothurn stand mitten im sogenannten Kulturkampf drinn [sic] und man mußte darum auch in Mariastein auf das Schlimmste gefaßt sein." (Professbuch IV, 1955, p. 176, Äbte Nr. 12, bzw. p. 246, Professen Nr. 174). - "Der politische Umschwung im Kt. Solothurn von 1830 brachte [.] neben Sondersteuern und Inventarisationen, eine erschwerte Aufnahme von Novizen. Während des Kulturkampfes ergab sich 1874 das Angebot eines Abtausches der Güter in der Schweiz gegen solche im Elsass (Castex-Handel). Dieser Plan veranlasste den Kt. Solothurn, dem Kloster die Vermögensverwaltung zu entziehen. [.] 1875 wurden Abt und Konvent aus dem Kloster vertrieben [.]. [.] Nach ihrer Ausweisung übersiedelten Abt und Konvent nach Delle (F), wo die im Herbst 1875 eröffnete Ecole libre Saint-Benoît zu einer klösterlichen Anlage erweitert wurde. Wegen der französischen Kongregationsgesetze mussten sie 1901 Frankreich wieder verlassen. [.] 1906 übernahm der Konvent auf Gesuch der Urner Regierung die Leitung und Führung des Kollegiums Karl Borromäus in Altdorf." (etc.; HLS, Beinwil-Mariastein). - Feiertagspredigt zur Einsiedler Engelweihe, dem Hauptfest von Stift und Wallfahrt, welches jeweils am 14. September besonders feierlich begangen wird, und dessen Festpredigt oft durch ausserordentliche und prominente Redner gehalten wurde. Abt Karl II. wurde damit wohl als quasi freundnachbarlicher 'Mitbruder' zu seiner vor einem halben Jahr erfolgten Wahl geehrt. Wenig später musste er allerdings mit seinem Konvent einen mühsamen Exodus nach Frankreich antreten, wo die Gemeinschaft um Abt Motschi jedoch für gut 25 Jahre wieder Fuss fassen konnte. "Zum Glück ersparte ihm die gütige Vorsehung sein Lebenswerk erneut gefährdet zu sehen. Am 18. April 1900 rief ihn Gott zu sich."(PB IV, p. 178). - Sprache: de.
