Condition: Fair. 1895. No Edition Remarks. 288 pages. No dust jacket. Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering. Contains black and white illustrations. Hinges are slightly cracked with exposed netting. Clean pages and illustrations with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Top textblock edge dyed gilt. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Gilt lettering is darkened. Moderate tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Minor splits to spine ends and corners causing cloth to be frayed. Book has a slight forward lean. Visible wear marks to boards.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Believed to be first edition and printing. In good green cloth boards, with blind stamped ruled edges and gilt titles to back strip. The covers are very firm, quite clean; with some edge-wear. 'The Clevedon Community Bookshop Co-operative Bindery Team' have done some restitching; replaced the spine and replaced the end papers. The end papers have green, blue and gold small pattern; a printed visiting card size card with hand written 'from' in pencil on the front paste down. Tanned and foxed deckled cut edges. The text block is tightly bound, very lightly tanned with some foxing. The prelims; end pages and last text pages are quite heavily foxed. A few pages have pencil notes. Overall good condition. Without jacket.

Spine ends softened, shallow rubs to the corners and spine tips, age tanning to the end papers, private library plate to the front paste down and in Very Good condition, no dust wrapper.
