A few small chips to left edge. [London, Sherwin, Half-length portrait of William Dampier (1651-1715), explorer and pirate, holding a copy of his own account of his voyages. The oil painting by Thomas Murray which this engraving is after was painted c.1697. It is currently held in the National Portrait Gallery in London. .

No records located. - Subjects also included Montreal, city view, children, carriages and cards, buildings, city scape, street scape. [Reg Russell's "Book Nook" not included]. Locations: McCord Museum; Baldwin Room, TPL; Spendlove. Face of Early Canada, Tor. 1958. p66. "John Murray Prints of Montreal". A very charming set of four black and white line-engravings of Monteal, often coloured by hand, was drawn by John Murray and engraved and published by Adolphus Bourne in 1850. . They are less rare and costly than the engravings after Sproule but are desirable and rapidly becoming scarce.
