Blatt Nr. 66 aus dem Werk "Recueil des Vues et Fabriques pittoresques d'Italie, dessinées d'après nature par Bourgeois" nach Motiven des Malers und Kupferstechers Florent Fidèle Constant Bourge…ois (1767-1841), der dieses Werk selbst herausgegeben hatte. Dieses Blatt gestochen von Vexelberg. Zu sehen ist der der Vulkan Vesuv, im Vordergrund Neapel. Paris, Florent Fidèle Constant Bourgeois 1804 Originaler Kupferstich, hinter Passepartout montiert. Format: Blatt 27,8 x 39,8 cm; Platte 23,5 x 31,3 cm, Passepartout 37,5 x 41 cm, Bildausschnitt 23,2 x 29 cm. --- Zustand: Etwas fleckig, der obere Rand etwas schief beschnitten. Der sogenannte Tempel der Sibylle ist ein römischer Tempel in Tivoli, dem antiken Tibur, in der Metropolitanstadt Rom, der sich neben dem sogenannten Tempel der Vesta befindet. Geschichte: Der Tempel wurde im 2. Jahrhundert v. Chr. auf der Akropolis des antiken Tibur erbaut. Im Mittelalter wurde im Inneren des Tempels eine Kirche eingerichtet, die dem Heiligen Georg geweiht war und 978 n. Chr. erstmals erwähnt wurde. Die Fresken der Kirche, die bis zum Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts zu sehen waren, sind verschwunden. --- Florent Fidèle Constant Bourgeois (5 June 1767, Guiscard - 26 June 1841, Paris) was a French landscape painter, engraver, and lithographer. He studied under David, but spent much of his time in Italy. Landon mentions him as an artist distinguished for the richness of his compositions and the purity of his style, and describes three of his pictures as being in the manner of Gaspard Poussin.
