First Edition. THE UNTOLD STORY, John Long, 1934, first edition, a vg to near fine copy. This attempt to give all the facts of the infamous "Thaw Case" of the early 20th century by the murderers wife, is written in most instances as a novel. The life of Ms. Nesbit, artist model, Gibson and chorus girl, actress and wife of multimillionaire Henry Kendall Thaw, is well known to the public and to those who studied law before 1940. Suffice it to say, it was perhaps the Orenthal James Simpson case of its day. The case so much in the public's eye, the judge did something that heretofore had never been done. He ordered that the jury be sequestered. Certainly a most bizarre and captivating tale of treachery, deceit, sadism and fixation, this tale as revealed by Evelyn Nesbit was brought to the screen as THE GIRL IN THE RED VELVET SWING in 1955. While not necessarily a faithful rendition into film (what Hollywood endeavor is?), the fact that a significant sum of people thought to invest and bring it to life some 50 years later, perhaps indicates its lasting memory.
