Newell, the author of other notable religious works 'A Popular History of The Ancient British Church' and 'St. Patrick: His Life and Teaching'. A look at the Welsh church, up until the dissolution of the monasteries. The volume is in part a portion of an essay entered into a competition at the National Eisteddfod, an important Welsh literary festival. The volume charts the Welsh Church from the Roman Period, to the life and death of notable church figure, until the dissolution of the monasteries. Previous owners ink inscription to the half-title page. In a full cloth binding. Externally generally smart. Bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and also to the extremities. Patches of rubbing to the spine, joints and boards. Light fraying to the cloth to the joints. Scratch mark to the rear board. Front hinge is strained, with cords showing. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally clean with the odd handling mark and spot. Loss towards the fore edge of pages 429-432, most likely caused by page cutting. Ink inscription to the half title page. Good. book.
