Características: Pasta dura en plena…piel de la época de una gran belleza. Libro en excelente estado para el tiempo que tiene de vida (288 años). El libro perdió los broches metálicos que se ve tenía para mantener cerrado el mismo y muestra los orificios que sostenían estos metales valiosos. La superficie de la dura y gruesa pasta en piel que tiene muestra el desgastado de dorados bellísimos que adornaban toda la imagen general tanto en las pastas como el lomo. El libro muestra sus definidos nervios que le dan consistencia. Tiene unos bellos adornos grabados en los cantos y conserva muy bien y limpios los dorados en los mismos cantos. Las guardas son también de una gran belleza y están perfectamente conservadas en un bello color azul marino adornado con lo que aparentan ser flores y motivos multicolores. El libro tiene en la portada un sello de uno de sus mútliples poseedores. Contiene también en la portada una imagen sublime de carácter religioso que adorna el título del libro. El papel se encuentra en inmejorable estado. Tiene una minúscula marca de polilla en el margen interior superior sumamente insignificante que no toca ni una sola letra y no afecta en absoluto nada. Tiene también algunas pequeñas imágenes más sencillas al principio de algunos capítulos adornando las letras de inicio como es la costumbre de estos bellos materiales. Las tintas de las letras están en negro y rojo como es caractarístico de este tipo de libros de la época. Al final del libro, en la última hoja tiene una imagen en rojo por demás también muy bella. (15.5 x 9 cms). Peso: 350 grs.LIBRO A LA MITAD DE SU PRECIO NORMAL.

Edizione plantiniana del 1625 dell'«Ufficio della Beata Vergine Maria», fissato nella forma tridentina da Pio V e destinato alla devozione p…rivata in tutte le sue sfaccettature, dalla recita delle ore canoniche all'ufficio dei defunti sino alla commemorazione dei principali snodi del calendario liturgico. Tutte le sezioni sono corredate da belle rubriche e capilettera in rosso. Le tirature plantiniane di questi Officia diffuse a partire dalla fine del Cinquecento sono celebri per cura tipografica e apparato iconografico: frontespizio inciso, vignette allegoriche, iniziali istoriate e tavole calcografiche a piena pagina che accompagnano i momenti principali dell'Ufficio. La presente edizione del 1625 si colloca in questa tradizione e rappresenta uno dei prodotti di maggior prestigio della bottega Moretus, erede di Plantin, la più importante tipografia anversese d'età barocca. L'«Officium» costituì per oltre un secolo il principale riferimento per la devozione cattolica europea: testo di privata preghiera e insieme libro d'arte uno dei vertici dell'arte tipografica seicentesca. Le edizioni plantiniane degli Officia mariani, per raffinatezza tipografica e apparato iconografico, sono oggi frequentemente esposte nei maggiori musei di storia del libro e della tipografia, oltre che nel Plantin-Moretus Museum di Anversa, interamente dedicato all'arte tipografica barocca. Druck in rot und schwarz. Mit 4 Textholzschnitten und Plantins Holzschnittdruckermarke auf der letzten Seite. Leider ohne das Titelblatt. Die Ermittlung des Druckers und des Druckjahres erfolgte anhand der "Summa Privilegii" (XVII. Ianuarij. M. DC. XI.). "In 1601 sent him [Archduke Albert's secretary] copies of the new Officium hebdomadae sanctae illustrated with woodcuts. There were no copies with engravings available yet because the new copper plates were not yet ready [.] If necessary, he wrote, he could send more copies illustrated with woodcuts but he warned the secretary explicitly that the copies in which engravings were to be printed would have paper of better quality."
