Cet ouvrage qui s'ouvre sur un superbe frontispice (rue de Charenton, 1954) contient 50 reproductions en noir et en couleurs d'oeuvres du peintre japonais OGUISS (1901-1986) dont le portrait photographiqu…e, en noir, figure à la suite de la page de titre. OGUISS fut l'ami de FOUJITA , de Maurice UTRILLO et de tous les peintres parisiens de cette époque, ceux de la RUCHE, de Montparnasse et de Montmartre. On lui doit de nombreuses vues d'un PARIS encore récent mais disparu. Dans la préface de Georges HUISMAN, on peut lire ceci: "ce qu'OGUISS se plait à peindre à travers Paris, c'est le pitoyable décor où vivent tant de braves gens pour lesquels la vie n'a pas toujours été clémente, ce Paris où passent tant de gens qui souffrent, qui pleurent, qui rient et paraissent sortis des films de René CLAIR ou de Marcel CARNÉ, des poèmes de PRÉVERT, des romans de CARCO ou des chansons de Maurice CHEVALIER et d'Yves MONTAND". Les cinquantes reproductions sont listées en fin de volume, avec leurs titres, leurs dimensions et leurs dates d'exécution. Un musée est consacré à OGUISS dans la ville japonaise d'Inazawa où son atelier de la cité "Montmartre-aux-artistes" a été reconstitué. Exemplaire dont la couverture est très légèrement défraîchi mais dont les pages intérieures sont en TRES BON ETAT.
