Mit mit papiergedecktem Siegel (Wappen der Stadt Ohrdruf mit dem Erzengel Michael). -- Zustand: Papier stärker gebräunt und fleckig, mit kleinen Randläsuren. Das er…ste Textblatt und das Adressblatt fast vollständig gelöst. Jeremias Purgold (geb. 1548 in Eisenach, gest. 1595 in Rossla) war Gräflich-Gleichen'scher Rat und sächsischer Amtmann. -- Gleichen (auch Grafen von Gleichen) ist der Name eines Adelsgeschlechts in Thüringen. Die Familienmitglieder sind seit 1099 als Herren und Grafen von Tonna urkundlich belegt und besaßen als Stammsitze die Kettenburg in Gräfentonna sowie seit 1130 die Burg Gleichen bei Gotha. Das Geschlecht gehörte zu den Reichsständen und damit zum Hohen Adel. Die Grafen von Gleichen waren im Mittelalter als Vögte über die Stadt Erfurt die wichtigsten Vertreter des Mainzer Erzstifts in Mittelthüringen sowie die vorherrschenden Mainzer Lehnsträger im Eichsfeld. 1631 ist das Geschlecht erloschen. However because of the inefficiency of the distribution most of the pamphlets were given to prisoners of war camps. Despite the large number of the publication only a few copies remained.The photographs of the pamphlet played important role as evidences in the Nuremberg Trials.It includes the famous and controversial photo of the Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel in Buchenwald (first published in the "New York Times" on May 6, 1945 with the caption "Crowded Bunks in the Prison Camp at Buchenwald" taken inside Block 56 by Private H.
