Add to basketA contributor's copy of a rare pre-war Cambridge periodical published by Selwyn College students though not found in any Cambridge collection. apart from a single copy in Selwyn's archives Octavo volume bound in quarter vellum over green cloth; Bill Pickard bookplate to first pastedown; overleaf a photograph of the 'Elysium Publishing Association' with names laid down opposite a manuscript 'Brief History of the Elysium Publishing Association' which explains that 'Considerable friction with the authorities due to certain articles led to the removal of "Selwyn College" as the publishing address; and finally the publication of the Book of Verse "Candle Ends" by W E Bott resulted in the enforced suppression of "Elysium".' This further explains the pattern of early publication and claims 200 issues were printed of No 1 and 500 of each of the next 3 issues - numbers not borne out by the surviving copies - 2 at the BL unidentified by OCLC. The articles that follow are a mixture of essays, skits, poetry and travel accounts; reviews of Androcles and the Lion and Shaw's Quintessence of Ibsenism.
