With the original printed leaf of text giving biographical details of the subject.

Condition: Very good. - Approximately 32 words penned on his 7 inch high by 4-1/2 inch wide stationery embossed with his monogram and Kensington Gardens address. Replying to a request for his autograph, Reeves writes "I have to apologize for the delay in answering your polite note requesting me to send my autograph." Signed "Sims Reeves" with the date penned within his signature's flourish. Once folded, the letter is mounted with glue from the verso onto heavier stock clipped from an album. Very good. Considered the foremost English operatic, oratorio and ballad tenor vocalist of the mid Victorian era, John Sims Reeves (1821-1900) received his early music education from his father who was a bass soloist in the Royal Artillery Band. He was appointed organist and choirmaster of North Gray church at the age of 14. He trained under Thomas Simpson Cooke, first as a baritone and then a tenor, while also learning to play several instruments.

See his entry in the Oxford DNB. Even towards the end of his life Bernard Shaw could remark that 'he can still leave the next best tenor in England an immeasurable distance behind'. 1p, 12mo. In good condition, lightly aged, with minor traces of mount to inner margin. Folded once. Very nice embossed letterhead, printed in gold, brown, green and red, with bird perched on top of a treble clef, entwined with foliage and a twisted branch in the shape of the 'R' of 'Reeves'. Reads: 'Sir / This autograph with pleasure, according to your request / Yours faithfully / June 1872 / J. Sims Reeves'. See image.

Good bold signature 'Luigi Infantino / 1948', on one side of postcard, the other side, with stamp and postmark, printed with Rebbeck's address, and the following message (with manuscript additions in square brackets): 'Dear [MR INFANTINO,] / May I respectfully ask if you will kindly add your autograph on the other side of this card and post to me. / Thanking you in anticipation. / Yours faithfully, / [Dennis Rebbeck.]' (The recipient is not the Harland & Wolff director, whose Christian name was spelt 'Denis'.) In fair condition, aged and worn, with small square of tape staining at head, and some light offsetting of ink over Nicholls' signature. Reads: 'Yours sincerely | Ben Davies.' and 'In remembrance of | Agnes Nicholls'.

Near fine. Welsh operatic & concert tenor Davies was so famous in his day that Frank Pool in a note could say: "Everyone knows Ben Davies" A scarce ALS/signature.

Kl.-8vo (ca. 140 : 90 mm). 1 p. Eigenhändige Unterschrift auf Albumblatt. Geboren als Vincenzo De Muro, gab Enzo de Muro Lomanto 1925 sein Debüt in Catanzaro, als Alfredo in La traviata. Kurz darauf trat er am San Carlo in Neapel als Cavaradossi in Tosca auf. Sein Debüt an der Scala gab er 1928 als Tonio in La fille du régiment. Er sang dort bis 1943.Aus der Sammlung des Wiener Anwalts Max Bettelheim (1912-1971). Von dessen Nachfahren übernommen.
