First edition. Uncommon booklet from the George Elliott Co. in New York describing various vision ailments and advertising the company's Periscopic Aqua-Crystal Spectacles. Includes a handy at-home test as well as advertisements in German, French, and Swedish. OCLC locates two copies at the National Library of Medicine and the Jersey City Public Library. 17x11cm, 18, [2]pp. Single illustration, chart. Printed paper wrappers, staple bound. Some edge wear and light soiling, paper toned. Very good.

No Binding. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. An illustrated trade receipt, dated 1838, for a new Object Glass for a 30 inch telescope. I find this curious as I can find no mention of a telescope of this size in 1838. The receipt mentions the lens' construction by Dollond the famous telscope manufacturers of that time. Generally in very good condition with a 1cm closed tear on the edge of one of the folds of the receipt. With some light pencil notes on the rear.

No Binding. Condition: Very Good. Ephemera. Full page advertisement printed on thin paper for Messrs Hamilton Young & Co of Aldgate, London, Manufactueres of Spectacels and Eye Preservers. Mr Young has invented the Visometer, by which the exact visual power of the eye is ascertained unerringly - and this is authenticated by Sir David Brewster. Mr Young, following years of research and study, can cope with most defects of sight and prescribe the correct spectacles. He also sells Eye Glasses and Hand Spectacles of every description in every variety of Mounting, patent crystal spectacles and an Acromatic Day and Night Telescope, the size of a walnut, which can define objects 10 miles distant, prices from 20s. He also deals in deaf aids. It is apparent that Mr Young, at least, is a travelling Occulist, as he says that articles purchased from him and found not to be of use can be exchanged on their next journey in 6 months time. Mr Young is a Licensed Hawker, No 182. The sheet has been folded and has a tiny nibble from the central fold (with no loss of text). There is very slight foxing, but overall it appears bright and clean. Mounted (matted) and ready to frame.
