Soft cover. Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. 132 pages, 26 unnumbered leaves of plates ([4] folded) : illustrations, maps + 1 folded map ; 26 cm. The original wraps with several chips and tears, but reasonably complete. This guide to the geology of a mountainous area of central Serbia was published in Prague (occupied by the Nazis)… in the same year that Hitler invaded Yugoslavia (and Serbia) in April, 1941. The interior geological tables pristine and still protected by the original tissue guards. The fold out map (pocket in the rear cover) is large (53 X 96 cm.) and pristine. The map was printed in Vienna, also in 1941. Certainly not a coincidence that these materials were produced in the year of the invasion of the Balkans. Most rare in the U.S. OCLC shows only one copy in North America, at the University of Illinois.
