Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Rare complete three-part set of Recollections of a Pioneer Lawyer by Othman A. Abbott of Grand Island, Nebraska, published in the Nebraska History Magazine by the Nebraska State Historical Society. This offering includes all three consecutive installments of Abbott's memoirs, originally issued across multiple numbers of Nebraska History Magazine during 1928 and 1929. The work chronicles Abbott's experiences from childhood through the Civil War and into pioneer-era Nebraska, providing an important firsthand account of nineteenth-century American frontier life. Contents include discussions of New England origins, Civil War service, pioneer travel, early legal practice in Nebraska, settlement of the Great Plains, family life on the frontier, grasshopper plagues, constitutional developments, and the growth of Nebraska communities. The memoir remains an important primary source for researchers of Nebraska history, western expansion, frontier law, Civil War veterans in the West, and pioneer settlement. Particularly desirable because all three consecutive installments are present together, allowing the complete narrative to be read as originally published. Condition: Tight bindings. Complete three-part set of Nebraska History Magazine featuring all three consecutive installments of Recollections of a Pioneer Lawyer by Othman A. Abbott. Published by the Nebraska State Historical Society, 1928-1929. Original paper wraps. Pages are clean with no writing or markings noted.
