Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Published in 1897, this is the First Edition of this privately published catalogue of the Birds of Shropshire, bound in the original patterned cloth title in gilt to the upper cover, 8.75 inches tall approx, 104 pages with a small number of illustrations. Loosely inserted are several old…newspaper clippings, a scare Shropshire printed paper on the effects on bird life of the severe winter of 1939-40, a small two sided piece on Shropshire Birds reprinted from The Shrewsbury Circular in 1943, a typed poem titled "The Concert of the Birds" in a Shropshire Garden by Olive A. Jones. What makes this copy very interesting is that its original owner has annotated the book with added relevant handwritten notes on birds in pencil on and off throughout the book. CONDITION Some light marking to covers, internally some browning to endpapers, a few occasional small marks, and the mentioned annotations else a good example of this very scarce book.
