Caroberto veniva incoronato re d'Ungheria col nome di Carlo I nel 1301: è da questa data che ha inizio il dominio quasi secolare della casata degli Angiò in Ungheria, ed è proprio grazie agli Angiò che in Italia durante il XIV secolo si sente parlare spesso degli Ungheresi.
