Softcover. Condition: Gut bis sehr gut. 1. Auflage. This artist s book, published on the occasion of the exhibition Francis Upritchard. In die Höhle (In hell) at the Vienna Secession, stands out in its extraordinary design and conception. The bestselling British author David Mitchell has created a parallel literary narrative to Francis Upritchard s work with a new short story written especially for the book. The London design collective Åbäke has developed a counterpart to the dense network of references, democratic tenor and formal language of the artistic work with experimental openness. The result is irresistibly beautiful: antique sculptures, models, classical work illustrations, sketches, historically photographs are presented in psychedelic, luminous colours, pieces are collaged with sources of inspiration, current exhibition photos are contrasted historically and three leaflets are sewn into the book with golden thread.…
