    Condition: sehr guter Zustand. Farbholzschnitt, wohl um 1930, auf cremefarbenem Velin, mit Bleistift signiert. Darstellungsgröße 35:25,5 cm, Blattgröße 37:26,7 cm. Gemeinsam mit seinen Eltern kam Pap 1912 nach Wien und besuchte hier seit 1914 die Grafische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt und nebenher eine zinkografische Werkstatt. 1917 wurde er als Soldat an die italienische Front einberufen und studierte nach Kriegsende ein Jahr an der Kunstgewerbeschule in Budapest. Nach Niederschlagung der Räterepublik emigrierte er nach Österreich und besuchte in Wien die private Kunstschule von Johannes Itten (1888-1967), an der auch Naum Slutzky (1894-1965) lehrte. 1920 ging er an das Weimarer Bauhaus, um eine Ausbildung zum Silberschmied in der Metallwerkstatt unter Itten zu absolvieren und machte auch einen Malkurs bei Theo van Doesburg (1883-1931). 1923 legte er bei der Handwerkskammer Weimar die Gesellenprüfung ab und ging dann zurück nach Transsylvanien. Zwischen 1924 und 1927 war er in Klausenburg und Hermannstadt als Lithograph tätig, begann zu fotografieren und gab eine pazifistische Zeitschrift heraus. Johannes Itten holte ihn dann an seine private Kunstschule in Berlin, wo er bis 1933 eine Malklasse und das Aktzeichnen leitete. Nach der Machtergreifung der Nationalsozialisten kehrte Pap 1934 nach Ungarn zurück und versuchte hier eine Malschule zu leiten. Er hatte Kontakt zu der Gruppe sozialistischer bildender Künstler", seit 1936 arbeitete er als Textilzeichner im Unternehmen von Léo Goldberger. 1944 wurde er zum Arbeitsdienst eingezogen. Nach Ende des 2. Weltkriegs gründete Pap in Nagymaros die Malschule für Arbeiter- und Bauernkinder Nagy Balogh János" nach Bauhaus-Prinzipien. An der Hochschule für Bildende Kunst in Budapest bekleidete er von 1949-1962 eine Professur. In seiner Bauhaus-Zeit entwickelte Pap eine Stehlampe, die als Pap Stehleuchte" nachgebaut und noch vermarktet wird.…
