"Johann Paul Wallot (1841-1912) war ein deutscher Architekt und Hochschullehrer. Er…ist vor allem für den Entwurf des zwischen 1884 und 1894 entstandenen Reichstagsgebäudes in Berlin bekannt. Wallot schaffte seinen Durchbruch erst, als er 1882 aus dem zweiten Wettbewerb um das Reichstagsgebäude in Berlin als Sieger hervorging. Mit seinem Kollegen Friedrich von Thiersch teilte sich Wallot den 1. Preis, aber sein Entwurf wurde fast einstimmig vom Preisgericht zur Ausführung gewählt. 1883 ließ sich Wallot in Berlin nieder, um den Bau besser überwachen zu können. Am 9. Juni 1884 wurde die Grundsteinlegung gefeiert, und gut zehn Jahre später, am 5.
