unbound. 10 x 8 inches, no place, no date, circa 1934 -- a vintage photo of a seated Penner wearing a hat and with an unlit cigar between his teeth. He is holding a live white duck in his lap with its head resting on Penner's shoulder. Inscribed on the left side: "To Florence Monett Sincerely Joe Penner." In the 1930s, his radio show premiered the voice of a young Mel Blanc, whose character, Egghead, was partly based on Penner and was the forerunner of Blanc's legendary character Elmer Fudd.
