Weltkrieg als renommierte Lehrerin und international gefragtes Jury-Mitglied.Dem neuen Tanz, wie Suzanne Perrottet, Rudolf von Laban, Mary Wigmann und andere ihn entwickelten, lag eine lebensreformerische Utopie zugrunde: Der neue Tanz sollte der Disharmonie von Körper, Seele und Geist entgegenwirken, wie sie als Folge der modernen Industriegesellschaft entstanden war. In der freien und ausdrucksvollen Bewegung sah man die Möglichkeit, die natürliche, ganzheitliche Harmonie des Menschen zurückzugewinnen. Dazu galt es, den Tanz von den Fesseln der Musik und Pantomime zu befreien und seine autonome Form wieder herzustellen. Zugleich sollte der Tanz nicht mehr eine Spezialdisziplin künstlerischer Artistik sein, sondern das Allgemeingut jeder gesunden Lebensform. Auch sein therapeutisches Potential war neu zu entfalten. In der reichhaltigen Geschichte des Tanzes im 20. Jahrhunderts hat es wenige gegeben, die sich diesen Zielen ähnlich intensiv verschrieben haben wie Suzanne Perrottet - und noch wenigere, die so lebendig und amüsant davon zu berichten wußten. Suzanne Perrottet hat ihre Erinnerungen am Ende ihres langen Lebens dem Zürcher Fotografen und Filmemacher Giorgio Wolfensberger erzählt mit dem Ziel, daraus ein Buch zu formen. Als sie am 10. August 1989 unerwartet starb, hatte sie etwa zwei Drittel ihrer Biographie Revue passieren lassen. Aus diesem Material entstand das vorliegendeBuch - ergänzt um Erinnerungen von einigen Weggenossen dieser außergewöhnlichen Frau.Suzanne Perrottet, geb. 1889 in Rolle am Genfersee, erhielt eine musikalische Ausbildung in Genf, wo sie mit Émile Jaques-Dalcroze in Kontakt kam. Sie wurde seine Schülerin, begleitete ihn 1910 nach Hellerau, um dort eine Schule für rhythmische Gymnastik und Tanz aufzubauen. Nach sie 1912 Rudolf von Laban kennengelernt hatte, folgte sie ihm 1913 auf den Monte Verità nach Ascona und anschließend nach Zürich. Dort nahm sie 1917 an den Soiréen der Galerie Dada teil und gründete 1920 ihre eigene Tanz- und Bewegungsschule. In den folgenden 60 Jahren arbeitete sie als Tänzerin, Be wegungslehrerin und Tanztherapeutin in Zürich. Sie förderte Talente wie Trudy Schoop, Vera Skoronel, Max Terpis und Berthe Trümpy. Sie war für C.G. Jung und den Ernährungswissenschafter Maximilian Bircher-Benner tätig, gab Kurse für das Stadttheater und das Zürcher Bühnenstudio, wo sie viele bekannte Schauspieler und Künstler unterrichtete. Für die Arbeiter- Union leitete sie im Volkshaus Kinderund Erwachenenklassen und bot an der ETH Kurse an. Bis zum 89. Lebensjahr führte sie ihre Schule in Zürich, wo sie 1989 mit 93 Jahren starb.Der HerausgeberGiorgio J. Wolfensberger, geb. 1945 in Zürich, arbeitet als Fotograf, Filmschaffenderund Ausstellungsmacher in der Schweiz und in Italien. Er führte zahlreiche Interviews mit Suzanne Perrottet, stellte daraus ihre Erinnerungen zusammen und verwaltet ihren Nachlaß.
