Mit reicher Personenstaffage: Wendt/Kappelhoff Band I, 50: "Das alte Hamburger Stadtmiltär vor der Franzosenzeit, durch Werbungen zusammengebracht, bestand um die Wende des 18. Jahrhunderts aus 1800 Mann Infanterie, 90 Mann Artillerie und 40 Mann Cavallerie (Dragoner). Die Infanterie (Grenadiere und Musketiere) zeigte in ihrer Uniform die Hamburger Farben: rothe Röcke (mit blauen Anschlägen) und weisse Weste und Beinkleider; die Grenadiere trugen hohe Grenadiermützen, die Musketiere zweikrämpige schwarze Hüte. Die Cavallerie trug gleichfalls rothe Röcke, dazu gelbe Lederhosen und Westen nebst dreikrämpigem schwarzem Hut und hohen Reiterstiefeln. Die Artillerie trug blaue Röcke mit gelber Weste und Lederhosen. Rechts auf dem Markt befindet sich die Wache, links davon ein Brunnen. Links vom Brunnen sieht man den neuen Steinweg hinunter".
