Depuis une dizaine d'années. ignorant les modes, les convenances, les intrigues, suivant inlassablement son chemin, Philippe Mohlitz tisse I' uvre gravé qui en fait incontestablement le chef de file de I'Ecole fantastique de Paris. A ce titre, ses dessins à la p…lume à partir desquels il grave ses planches avec plus ou moins de fidélité au tracé originel méritaient d'être connus, donc publiés, ne serait-ce que pour mesurer la distance entre l'idée première venue déjà à maturité avec une quasi perfection et sa réalisation en gravure. En outre, il ne s'agit pas de vagues projections ou de plans élémentaires, encore moins d' épures rigoureuses et techniques, mais bien de dessins avec tout le charnel, le moelleux et l'influx nerveux d'une uvre accomplie. Enfin, leur qualité de dessins à graver leur confère peut-être une dimension supplémentaire.
