See HAYMAKER Founders of Neurology, 1953 - 'Although Pitres' activities in the field of neurology were far-flung, his favourite subject was aphasia. He remained faithful to Broca's concept of aphasia, continuing too defend it against the onslaughts of Pierre-Marie, and in the process, consolidated his doctrines of cerebral localization of function. His description of agraphia has become famous, as have also his observations on amnesic aphasia, aphasia in multilingual persons, and paraphasia, his exposé of the last-named being among his greatest contributions.' pp. 347-350, with portrait.
