Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, colors vivid & crisp, binding strong & straight, both hinges secure. It was first serialised in Public School Magazine from January to March of 1902, with illustrations by R. Noel Pocock (1878-1949); ten of these were reproduced when the novel was published in book form on 18 September 1902.Wodehouse dedicated The Pothunters to the sisters Joan (1888-1954), Effie (1889-1981), and Ernestine Bowes-Lyon (1891-1981), three older cousins of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the future Queen Mother. Farnie's arrival, together with that of another new boy, causes havoc around a series of important cricket matches.Cricket was a longstanding passion of Wodehouse's. He played for the amateur cricket team the 'Allahakhbarries', captained by J.M. Barrie (1860-1937), whose members also included Jerome K. Jerome (1859-1927), A.A.
