Pérez de Ayala attended all three sessions of the Council. He was archbishop of Valencia. He choose Benito Arias Montano to accompany him to the Council. He made a reputation for denouncing the corruption at the Council. His ''De Divinis.'' is his main work. He discusses here idolatry, the veneration of the relics of Saints, their tombs and images.
