Both with [2] plates, engraved frontispieces with tissue guards, and extra engraved title pages. All edges gilt. Clean, bright, tight contents. Both plates and title pages very lightly browned. Black full calf, the spine with four raised bands, title lettered direct in gilt. Marbled end papers. Bookplate of Mary M.W. Peto on the front pastedown, and her signature on the recto one one of the blank prelims. Sewn in silk head and tail bands. Overall, a near fine copy.These small fomat, prayer,meditational, and devotional books were published in order that tey could be accommodated in ladies clutch bags during church services. They were very popular in the nineteenth cantury.
