In seinem "rationellen Waldwirth" (begonnen 1858) entwickelte er zuerst die Ideen über den Reinertragswaldbau und später erregte er mit seiner Forstfinanzrechnung, Zuwachslehre und deren Weiserprocent besonderes Aufsehen.
