Les guerres qui éclatèrent dans le royaume d'Arles et de Vienne à la fin du Moyen Age ont en effet modelé les territoires et les hommes et ont posé les bases de la géographie politique actuelle. Dans le bassin lémanique, cette époque a vu naître des Etats en puissance qui surent se doter d'un arsenal politique, juridique et militaire apte à imposer leur souveraineté aux populations et capable de leur assurer le tracé et le contrôle de frontières. Les principaux belligérants, comtes de Genève, comtes de Savoie et dauphins de Viennois territorialisèrent lentement leur pouvoir grâce à la formation de puissants réseaux de châteaux et de bourgs fortifiés accrochés sur le lac Léman, le Rhône et l'Arve. Cette étude examine le long processus de fragmentation du comté de Genève carolingien, entamé au XIIe et achevé au milieu du XIVe siècle, et l'émergence des principautés dans le diocèse de Genève. Cette analyse situe par ailleurs les événements dans le contexte des affrontements opposant le Saint Empire romain germanique au royaume de France. Elle établit également des parallèles avec l'histoire du comté de Bourgogne étroitement liée à celle des Etats lémaniques. On constate en outre que les conflits gebenno-faucigneran et delphinosavoyard entraînèrent des innovations architecturales majeures dans l'habitat fortifié public et privé. L'étude tente ainsi de comprendre les techniques mises en oeuvre, de dégager des typologies et d'examiner les formations urbaines. Les comptabilités des puissances en guerre offrent enfin l'opportunité de comparer les politiques castrales et de suivre les chantiers de construction et d'entretien des forteresses princières. Introductory messages from the Dean, various other heads of departments, as well as invitations and introductions by the various heads of student clubs, bus schedules from the Winnipeg Electric Company, and much more. Light wear to the covers, neat period ink name to the upper-margin of the front cover, else, contents remain bright, clean, and unmarked with tight, sound binding; fine. Scarce, with no known extant copies available in commerce at time of cataloguing. Not found in Peel, BAC/LAC, University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections. Rare indeed.
