In diesen wurden ihre Lehren meist mit griechischer Philosophie in Zusammenhang gebracht, zuweilen wurde aber auch der Versuch unternommen, sie von indischer Philosophie abzuleiten. Die Bestrebungen, zwischen der Theologie und der antiken Philosophie Beziehungen herzustellen, sind nicht erst neueren Datums, sondern schon bei den islamischen Religionshistorikern selbst nachzuweisen. Der bekannteste von ihnen, as-Sahrastani, läßt keine Gelegenheit vorübergehen, Ähnlichkeiten aufzuweisen und auf Grund derselben eine Abhängigkeit zu behaupten. Tatsächlich ist auch der Kalam, so wie er uns bis vor kurzem aus den Quellen bekannt war, weitgehend mit aristotelisch-platonischer Philosophie durchsetzt und vor allem mit dem Rüstzeug einer an griechischer Philosophie geschulten Logik und Dialektik versehen. - Wikipedia: Otto Pretzl (* 20. The solar neutrino puzzle and the question: What happens to the neutrinos on their way from the sun to the earth 2. The growing evidence that our universe is filled with about 10 times more matter than is visible and the question: What is dark matter made of 3. The supernovae explosions and the question: What do neutrinos tell us about such explosions and vice versa The experimental investigation of these phenomena is difficult and involves unconventional techniques. These are presently under development, and bring together such seemingly disparate disciplines as astrophysics and elementary particle physics on the one hand and superconductivity and solid-state physics on the other. This book contains the proceedings of a workshop held in March 1987 at which the above subjects and their experimental investigation were discussed. The proposed experimental methods are very new. They involve frontier developments in low temperature and solid-state physics. The book should be useful to researchers and students who actively work on these subjects or plan to enter the field. It also offers the non-expert reader with some physics background a good survey of the activities in this field.

Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This volume, the fourteenth in the Space Sciences Series of ISS/, is dedicated to the matter in the universe, which was the topic of a workshop organized by ISSI from 19 to 22 March 2001 in Bern. The aim of the meeting was to gather ac tive researchers from various fields (cosmology, astrophysics, nuclear and particle physics as well as space science) to asses the exciting new developments in the search for abundant and yet unknown forms of matter in the universe. Due to the importance of the field and the rapid developments which are taking place ISSI decided to organize a workshop on matter in the universe and invited nine convenors, John Ellis, Johannes Geiss, Philippe Jetzer, Heinrich Leutwyler, Klaus Pretzl, Rafael Rebolo, Norbert Straumann, Gustav Andreas Tammann and Rudolf von Steiger, who formulated the aims and goals of the meeting. The work shop was organized such as to have only plenary sessions with typically half hour presentations and ample time for discussions. The last day was devoted to conclusions and future objectives. The knowledge of the amount and nature of matter present in the universe is undoubtedly one of the most relevant topics oftoday's astrophysics and cosmology.
