A fine original colour lithograph from Vanity Fair, a magazine which was published from 1869-1914, featuring a large caricature portrait each week. These were drawn by various artists, the most famous of whom was Leslie Ward who used the 'nom de crayon' of "Spy". This portrait will come mounted/matted and ready to frame using archivist quality materials, mount size 18 x 12 inches, 47 x 31 cms. It will be presented in a cellophane wrapper with our label guaranteeing authenticity. We pack very well, between sheets of hardboard. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a portrait of Sir Michael Costa, with the caption "Orchestration". Accompanied by a one page biographical sheet. Sir Michael Andrew Angus Costa (14 February 1808 - 29 April 1884) was an Italian-born conductor and composer. He is pictured here conducting from the piano.

19th Century engraving of the Court of the Kaaba in Mecca. Image measures 5x7.5" on a 7x10.5" page 115 from volume 3 of Élisée Reclus' "Nouvelle géographie universelle" (Hachette, 1884). The engraving depicts a sweeping view of Mecca with the cityscape in the background. In the foreground are the thousands of pilgrims gathered to worship near the Kaaba, which stands in the center of the court. In very good condition.
