Vol. Infantry) that were…known locally as the First through Fifth Oneida Regiments and an artillery battery. All of these men were raised predominantly in the county. They form the basis for six of this book's chapters. Along with a concluding chapter on the postwar activities of the veterans, they illuminate the county's military contribution to the Northern war effort.
