In seventeen editions the book has gone through many changes to establish an international reputation for innovation and clarity. This 18th edition is no exception. A new editorial team - including 21 new chapter authors - has pulled together the most up-to-date information possible. There are many revisions to content including a major new chapter on the molecular and cellular basis of disease and an enhanced new chapter on Diabetes Mellitus and Nutritional and Metabolic Disorders. All major systems chapters have an expanded section concentrating on the major manifestations of disease relevant to that chapter. These sections consider the clinical presentations of the patient who may have certain relevant symptoms to the pathology of the system under discussion.
