Richard Karlowitsch Maack (1825-1886) erforschte 1855/56 im Auftrag der Kaiserlich Russischen Geographischen Gesellschaft das Amurgebiet. Zu seinem 1859 erschienenen Bericht gehört der vorliegende Tafelband.Die schönen Tafeln zeigen Landschaftsszenen und indigene Bewohner der Gegend (num. 1-17) die letzten 6 (num. 1-6) mit jeweils mehreren Abbildungen von Häusern, Werkzeugen, Waffen etc. Die Tafeln gehen zum Teil auf Zeichnungen des Verfassers zurück, die von Karl Huhn (1831-1877) umgezeichnet wurden, zu anderen schuf der akademische Maler Jegor Jegorowitsch Meier (1822/23-1867) die Vorlagen, der von 1855-1863 in Sibirien lebte. Die ebenfalls zum Atlas gehörigen 2 Karten, 2 Pläne und 10 Tafeln mit Pflanzen waren diesem Exemplar offensichtlich nie beigebunden. - Obere Außenecke etwas gestaucht.
