Set for 4 unaccompanied voices, this 15th-century composition is an example of a sacred polyphonic work from the Late Medieval period. A rare surviving example of an intact musical s…core from that time, the piece is notated in intricate gothic script on the individual pages of the book. The Latin text is presented on the left-hand page, with the musical score on the facing page. The musical notation uses a five-line staff and is written in black ink, with red ink used for the clefs and accidentals. Musicologists believe that the work was composed in the late 1400s and that the musical score was printed using the moveable type technique pioneered by Johannes Gutenberg. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
