Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Mild rubbing wear in a few places on the covers. Smudging to the title page and a few small stains on the last several pages. Black cloth with ornate gilt lettering and decoration. 160 pages illustrated with numerous color and some black and white photos. Designed for an international audience to showcase Haitian culture and pride, this multilingual volume features text in French, Spanish, and English. Published around 1967-1968 under the direction of Raymond A. Moyse, who has inscribed the book. Moyse, who also selected the citations from Haitian literature and wrote the captions (légendes) alongside Henri Bourget. Spanish translations were done by Christophe Mervilus, and English translations by Emile Brun and Raymond Regala. While many photographers contributed to specific pages—including Jane Barbancourt and R. et G. Baussan—the majority of the photography for other pages was realized by Guy Touveron. Printed in Belgium by Imprimerie Márci and published by Editions Delroisse in France. It was represented in the Americas by Haiti Visite S.A. Published in the late 1960s to promote national pride, order, and cultural richness to the outside world, contrasting with the political repression and isolation the country faced internationally under the presidency of François "Papa Doc" Duvalier (1957-1971). Today, it offers a visual record of Haitian life and architecture in the late 1960s. B48. …

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - The Sparks That Endure Companion Workbook expands on Dr. Clovis Raymond's groundbreaking work The Sparks That Endure: Why Our Core Human Drives Survive Mental Illness. This comprehensive, hands-on guide transforms the book's ideas into practical tools for reflection, recovery, and renewal.Drawing on two decades of psychiatric experience, Dr. Raymond invites readers to explore fourteen universal 'sparks'-sex, money, food, music, spirituality, creativity, movement, rituals, nature, humor, touch, storytelling, hope, and freedom. Each spark represents a fundamental human drive that persists even through serious mental illness. These sparks are not just remnants of wellness; they are engines of meaning and resilience. This workbook bridges science, story, and self-discovery. It offers guided reflections, journaling prompts, and spark-mapping exercises that encourage readers to reconnect with the forces that sustain their identity and purpose. Clinicians can use it to facilitate group discussions, teach recovery-oriented care, and measure patient engagement. Individuals and families can use it as a personal roadmap to healing.Within these pages are tools for insight, connection, and practical action: - Reflection prompts that illuminate the inner world of recovery - Structured self-assessments for clinicians and individuals alike - Visual models linking emotion, desire, and neurobiology - Exercises aligned with The Sparks That Endure CME/CEU courseBeautifully written and deeply compassionate, The Sparks That Endure Companion Workbook reminds us that recovery is not merely the absence of symptoms but the rediscovery of the human spirit. Whether used in therapy, training, or personal growth, it transforms knowledge into practice-and rekindles the sparks that make us fully alive. Magee, Andy (illustrator).…

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Why do core human desires such as love, meaning, creativity, connection, and autonomy persist even in the presence of severe mental illness? In The Sparks That Endure, psychiatrist Clovis Raymond, MD explores a powerful and humane truth: serious mental illness does not erase what makes us human. Drawing from decades of clinical experience, neuroscience, patient narratives, and recovery oriented care, this book introduces the concept of sparks, enduring human drives that continue despite psychosis, mood disorders, trauma, and cognitive decline. The book examines fourteen sparks including sexuality, money, food, music, spirituality, creativity, movement, rituals, nature, humor, touch, storytelling, hope, and freedom. Through clinical case vignettes and clear psychiatric insight, Dr Raymond demonstrates how these drives remain active and meaningful even during illness, and how recognizing them can transform treatment, restore dignity, and strengthen therapeutic relationships. This work challenges deficit based models of psychiatry and offers a person centered framework that emphasizes identity, meaning, and human continuity. It integrates neuroscience, trauma informed principles, and recovery focused practice to provide clinicians and caregivers with practical tools while remaining accessible to general readers. The Sparks That Endure is both a clinical guide and a human story. It affirms that even in the presence of severe mental illness, the core elements of identity and desire endure. This book is intended for psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, nurses, trainees, families, caregivers, advocates, and readers seeking a deeper understanding of mental illness beyond symptoms.
