Der Hoffnungsschimmer auf so etwas wie Zukunft versickerte irgendwie in der Dunkelheit des Untergangs einer Epoche, die bis zum Schluss Anthropozän genannt wurde, weil ehrlichere Bezeichnungen nicht zu ertragen gewesen wären. Die wenigen Menschen, von denen erzählt wird, verkörpern das historische Bewusstsein der Zeit, deren Erleben und Erleiden aufwühlender Alltag von Abermillionen war. Die Erzählung soll schockieren! Außerdem ist sie zutiefst dystopisch, vielleicht, weil dies das Wesen des Menschen selbst am besten abbildet. Vielleicht jedoch gelingt es den Erdbesuchern, durch die Analyse ihrer Funde Licht ins Dunkel der Ursachen für den Exitus einer beherrschenden Spezies zu bringen, die eine ganz andere Deutung zulassen.
