Edges worn; small chips a corners and spine crackled. Gilt stamping has dulled on the spine but remains quite bright with just a touch of rubbing on the covers. Covers have a few small scratches. Page edges gilt, which shows some scuffing and rubbing. Rear hinge starting to crack; otherwise binding tight. Some pages mildly foxed but the text is clean overall. A handsome volume despite signs of wear. Extra-illustrated with six additional plates not found in the regular edition. The scarce supplement volume to Daniel's comprehensive study of the English sporting world of the Regency Period. The supplement was published 11 years after the first two volumes were released.

Boards fair to good condition half leather boards, slight loss to the leather corners on all volumes, the boards are very worn with major loss to the marbling, the fore edge of Vol. I has started to peel back, front board is detached to Vol IV. Page edges good condition top edges darkened, all tanned and damp stained. See above and photos. Internally Hinges fair to good condition Vol I cracked through the paper and leather to the front hinge but holding well; Vol IV front hinge is cracked through paper and leather and the board is off; all other hinges are intact with no cracking to the paper. Paste downs good condition plain. End papers good condition plain, free end papers are tanned and foxed. Title good condition engraved title pages in each volume, tanned and foxed. Pages good condition 76 plates throughout the four volumes, lacking plate at page 63 of Vol III, tanned and foxed throughout including to the plates. Binding good condition.
