[4], 280pp, 283pp, re-bound in polished leather with gilt borders, raised bands on gilt decorated spine, spine label intact [no chips], outer edges gilt, all edges marbled, marbled endpapers, binding and hinges tight. Preliminary pages show foxing, covers lightly sunned.

Leighton was one of the original contributors and this is a revised and edited edition, with 10 of the 'tales'. Nice decorated boards. No inscriptions. VG.

Book-plate inside front board. Boards: moderate to heavy rubbing. Gilt spine lettering darkened. Otherwise a tight, little reading/reference copy. Volume 16 only. 284 pp.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Two volumes, one starts with the cripple, the other with Judith the Egyptian. Brownish covers with heraldic shield in black/red and gilt to front, plus black thistle spray. Gilt titles to spines which show minor shelf wear. Covers are grubby. Internally very clean. One volume has end paper to page 16 loose.

Dark blue buckram with gilt and red crest to front , gilt to spine, gilt page tops, minor wear, vols 4 and 10 dulled fronts, occasional incipient tear to top of spine, sound bindings, a pencilled note about John Mackay Wilson verso ffep, title pages a little spotted, else very good page condition throughout. The weight being 6kg, extra shipping costs to be discussed.

This set has 12 volumes although Vol. 17 -18 (volume 11 of 12) is missing. Minor rubbing to cnrs. and maroon cloth. Discolouration to maroon cloth of Vol. 3-4. 11 out of 12 vols. Photos available on request. Very Heavy (approx. 4 Kilos) as a short set. Preface in Vol. I, is dated 1857. Edges of textblocks are finely marbled, as are endpapers.

Books in good condition in the original brown cloth, with some wear and rubbing. All edges stained red. The head and tail of the spine are worn on quite a few of the volumes, with slight loss in some cases. internally clean, bindings are holding firm.
