Richards, a student of Thomas Eakins in Philadelphia, was a painter and illustrator best known for his Life magazine covers from the early 20th Century. A handsome, bright impression.

Royal coat of arms of Queen Victoria, put into use in 1837, to top right corner. Print depicts a woman in a rose print dress with a floral bonnet and holding a gold club by a golf ball. Light spotting and toning throughout, as well as light foxing to subject's face (see image). Framed in silver coated wooden frame. Frame: 21 x 29.75; Window: 13 x 21.75 inches.
