Condition: Good. Two volumes uncut and sewn in contemporary grey paper wrappers. Numbers stamped onto spines. The separate plate volume in similar wrappers with somewhat damaged spine. Slight foxing throughout, some dampstaining, a few unpleasant stains in the outer margin on the first unpaginated pages in volume I. These volumes is sewn in accordance with the directions to the bookbinder on the last page. The title page with the author's portrait after a medallion by Sergel is engraved by J. Gillberg. A German translation was published in 1808-09. Rinman started from a manuscript left by A. R. Bellander, which he revised completely and extended substantially. "Svenskt biografiskt lexikon" writes (our translation): "Bergwerks lexicon is one of the main sources to our knowledge of the older iron industry, and as such it is of invaluable importance for the understanding of different work processes and working stages within almost every field of the iron and metal industry before the introduction of more modern methods from the 1820s and forwards.".
