A Paris, chez David l'Aîné, 1751, in-8, VI-141-[3]-17-[7] PP. 1 pl. dép, Broché, couverture d'attente de papier tourniquet, Édition originale de ce texte très rare par Christophe-Paul de Robien (1698-1756), baron de Kaër et vicomte de Plaintel, président à mortier au parlement de Bretagne et membre de l'Académie des sciences de Berlin. L'auteur étudie ici la formation des fossiles; il s'appuie sur les pièces de son cabinet, qu'il léguera à son fils Paul-Christophe-Céleste en 1756. Cette collection était située jusqu'en 1793 au 3e étage de l'hôtel de Robien, rue aux foulons à Rennes. Le texte se termine par une "Dissertation sur la formation de trois différentes espèces de pierres figurées qui se trouvent dans la Bretagne". Avec une planche gravée dépliante in fine et un errata manuscrit à l'encre brune au verso de la dernière page. Naturaliste, historien et collectionneur, le Président de Robien est considéré par certains comme le père de l'archéologie bretonne. On lui doit notamment la découverte et la description de monuments mégalithiques importants, tels que ceux de Locmariaquer (Morbihan) et de La Roche-aux-Fées (Ille-et-Vilaine), il sera l'un des premiers à considérer les tumulus et les dolmens comme des tombeaux gaulois.
