The 19.5 x 27 cm front panel of an envelope, with the flap. In fair condition, lightly aged, with slight discoloration to the cover from the three seals. In the top right-hand corner of the cover is written the word 'Particuliere'; at bottom left is the signature 'Guizot'; slightly to the left of centre is the address: 'Monsieur le comte de Jarnac | Chargé d'affaires de France | à Londres'. The three seals in black wax adhering to the flap. None has the full impression and only one is complete. In pencil on the flap is a note regarding Guizot's motto: 'Omnium recta brevissima | The right (i.e. honest) course is the shortest (most direct) of all.'.

Released in France as "La traite des blanches," also known as "I Am a Fugitive from a White Slave Gang."
