Cloth-backed marbled boards, reinforced hinges. Bookplate plus several round ownership rubber stamps on title page and two other pages. Near-fine copy. Includes Heisenberg: "Zur Quantentheorie der Multiplettstruktur und der anomalen Zeemaneffekte," pp 841-860. Rosbaud, Paul and E. Schmidt, "Uber Verfestigung von Einkristallen durch Legierung und Kaltreckung", pp 197-225; with other contributions by Goudsmit, Raschevsky, Euken, Emil Goldstein, Frenkel, Hund, Lanczos, and many more.[++] This is a significant contribution by Heisenberg, and a not-so-significant contrib by Rosbaud. It is VERY significant though to recall that Herr Rosbaud was an incredibly significant conduit of scientific and technical data to the Allies during WWII. He stayed in Germany and was able to send highly important info (including the state of the Nazi efforts to build an atomic weapon) throughout the course of the war. Also in his capacity at the journal "Naturwissenschaften" Rosbaud was able to see the foundational paper by Meitner/Hahn/Strassmann into print quickly (according to A. Kramish, ref below) in 1940 and ensure that the intelligence divulged in that work was not bottled inside the Nazi state. I don't often see his professional work, but here one is. "Paul Rosbaud, a scientist and journalist who, throughout World War II, and at great personal risk, kept up a continuous supply of invaluable information on the German war effort flowing into Britain."--Arnold Kramish, in his "Griffin: Paul Rosbaud and the Nazi Atomic Bomb that Never Was" [+] "Rosbaud refused to live in London with his wife and child because he thought he could be much more help in bringing down the Nazi government if he continued to stay in Germany. According to Arnold Kramish, Rosbaud was the author of the Oslo Report that was sent to Frederick Winterbotham on 1st November, 1939. However, he believes that he has never being given full credit for his work. R.V. Jones later claimed that Rosbaud's "contributions were considerable and, in nuclear energy at least, approached the crucial." --Spartacus Educational [+] "During the war he risked his life and freedom by communicating with Allied scientist via the Norwegian underground and neutral channels and by being the confidant of German physicists who opposed the decline of science under the Nazis."--AIP.

Hans Rosbaud war seit 1955 Generalmusikdirektor der Münchner Philharmoniker; 1948 übernahm er die Leitung des Südwest-…Orchesters Baden-Baden und war daneben seit 1950 in Zürich als Chefdirigent des Tonhalle-Orchesters und des Stadttheaters tätig. Er war mit Igor Strawinsky, Arnold Schönberg und Béla Bartók befreundet, setzte sich für die Neue Musik ein und dirigierte zahlreiche Uraufführungen zeitgenössischer Komponisten" (DBE). Zudem war Rosbaud Gastdirigent in fast allen europäischen Ländern sowie in den USA und Südamerika. Karl Franz Keller (geb. 1915) studierte an der Hochschule für Musik in München und machte 1940 sein Examen als Kapellmeister. 1945 wurde er musikalischer Oberleiter des Städtebundtheaters Hof" und gründete die Hofer Symphoniker" sowie 1953 den Verlag Keller & Burkardt, Verlag für christliche Kunst". In den 1950er bis 1980er Jahren bereiste er ganz Deutschland, hielt unzählige Kirchen in christlichen Gemeinden photographisch fest und bebilderte damit die in seinem Verlag erscheinenden Konfirmations- und Firmungsurkunden; seine umfangreiche, über 10.000 Glasnegative umfassende Sammlung schenkte er im Jahre 2004 dem Bildarchiv Foto Marburg.
