Als Gegner der Waadtländer Revolution übernahm Rovéréa 1798 das Kommando der Légion fidèle. Nachdem er nach Deutschland ins Exil gegangen war, hob er 1799 ein Schweizer Emigrantenregiment aus. 1801 kehrte er in die Heimat zurück und wurde einer der Führer der aristokratischen Partei der Waadt. Er fügte sich schliesslich in die Realität eines unabhängigen Kt. Waadt. Oberst (HLS). - "Die Légion fidèle wurde am 3.2.1798 vom Berner Kriegsrat gebildet. Es handelte sich um ein Bataillon berntreuer Freiwilliger aus der Waadt, die nach dem Einmarsch der Franzosen ins Waadtland (27.1.1798) nach Bern emigriert waren. Das Kommando der Légion fidèle (auch Légion romande oder Bataillon Rovéréa genannt) wurde dem jungen waadtländischen Adligen Ferdinand Isaak de Rovéréa übertragen. Die vorwiegend aus Bauern und Handwerkern zusammengesetzte Truppe erreichte einen Höchstbestand von 620 Mann, aufgeteilt in fünf Kompanien. Die Légion fidèle sammelte sich bei Kallnach. Am 5.3.1798 kam es zum Gefecht von St. Niklaus (Gemeinde Merzligen) gegen Einheiten des französischen Generals Schauenburg. Die Nachricht vom Fall Berns provozierte den Rückzug und drei Tage später die Kapitulation der Légion fidèle." (HLS). -- Franz Karl von Tavel (Féchy 1801-1865 Genua), ref., von Bern und Féchy. 1819-1823 Offizier in preussischen Diensten, ab 1831 Berner Regierungsrat, Vertreter des Juste-Milieu, 1833 Mitglied der Bundesrevisionskommission, 1835 Tagsatzungspräsident, verfolgte eine liberale Asylpolitik. Tavel leitete 1836 mit Eduard Blösch u. Karl Schnell die Intervention gegen die katholische Bevölkerung im Berner Jura. 1838 Rücktritt, 1843-1846 erneut Regierungsrat, lebte nach 1854 in Paris u. Italien (HLS). -- Paul de Vallière (Lausanne 1877-1959 ibid.), ref., dann kath., von Moudon. 1901 lic. iur. in Lausanne. 1907-1915 Instruktionsoffizier d. Infanterie, 1912 Praktikum in einem badischen Regiment. 1921-1923 Direktor der Eidg.
