Handsomely bound in half red morocco over red boards with five raised bands and gilt titles and decorations to spine. Inside all pages and plates with top edge gilt in excellent clean and bright condition marred only with pages 64/65 starting to crack and by a little foxing to fore edge. A lovely copy of this entirely hand printed work originally supposed to be in six parts with the 5th part being published in 1970, however the work was never completed.

Volume 2 is limited to 1000 copies which will also not be reprinted. Included with each book is its own glassine jacket. The glassine jackets are minorly shelf rubbed and worn, with some small, unnoticeable closed tears along the edges. The boards have the slightest evidence of edge wear but remain otherwise strong, clean and square. Internally, the front end page of Volume 1 has some light marking on it from the print on the inside flap of the glassine jacket. Aside from this, there are no markings or inscriptions in either of the volumes, and the pages are crisp, pristine and complete. Tightly bound and very charming. JK. Hardcover, Volume 1 consist of 4 parts totalling 147 pages and includes an index, hand-printed, features strikingly beautiful color plates and black & white drawings, this one-of-a-kind collector's piece is signed by the author and his co-publisher wife on the copyright page, this copy is also inscribed and signed by orchid experts Nora & "Stalky" Dunsterville (in Nora's hand) on the front end-paper, the Dunsterville's presented this copy to the former owner, the inscription reads "To Elizabeth ten with love from Stalky & Nora," Nora was the wife of G. C. K. Dunsterville (Stalky) who was the author of over 250 articles & books, mostly about Venezuelan Orchids, Nora also made substantial contributions and co-authored the book "Orchid Hunting in the Lost World" with her husband, as an added treat this copy is bound in green cloth (they were issued unbound) , the owner had her name (Elizabeth ten Houten) printed in gold at the bottom of the front cover, her name also appears inside the book along with an inscription "Christmas 1961 - from Dunstervilles," dust-tanning is present on the outer page-edge & the owner has made very brief ink markings on four pages in the text, also (! ) included is a photocopy of a touching 2-page handwritten letter from Nora to Elizabeth dated 1992 which mentions "Stalky's" death among other things; Signed by Author.
