A forceful advertising letter, together with an accompanying measurement and order form, from the Brooks Rupture Appliance Co., Addressed to one Mr. Glidden, the letter begins: 'We have written you several times trying to persuade you to buy one of our celebrated rupture appliances, and are unable to understand why you have not ordered; you certainly were not satisfied with what you were wearing, or you would not have written us. Our appliance is the best thing in the world for rupture, and is making more cures and producing more solid comfort than all the common trusses in existence'.
